Using Custom Variables as Dimensions in Report Builder

You can add Custom Variables (CVs) as Dimensions in EnrollNow’s Report Builder to include participant information collected through your team’s custom variable fields.

Custom Variables can be global, making them available across studies, or study-specific.

Custom Variable Naming Conflicts

Saved reports can encounter conflicts when Custom Variables share the same name across studies, particularly when one is global and another is study-specific. The affected Dimension may appear blank, and its data may be missing from the results.

For example, you save a report using a study-specific variable named Referral Details. Later, your team creates a global variable with the same name or changes another variable with that name to global. This can affect the saved report’s Dimension selection.

Reviewing Saved Reports

Review affected reports whenever variable names are reused across studies or a variable changes between study-specific and global:

1. Open the saved report.
2. Select Open Report Builder.
3. Under Dimensions, verify that the intended Custom Variable is selected.
4. Select the correct variable if the field is blank or incorrect.
5. Click Save Report to save the updated configuration.
